Spring Pictures from Lifetouch
Eagle spring picture day is scheduled for February 29 from
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This is completely voluntary. Information and order forms
will be sent home the week of February 13. Students who wish to have a spring
picture taken must have the completed order form on that day.
Eagle has Heart
Soar to Success. Make a Difference. In our campaign to help others less fortunate than we are, Fifth Graders will be selling hearts for the next two weeks (Feb. 6 – Feb. 17)first thing in the morning and during lunch. Each heart can be purchased for $1 and dedicated to their “valentine”. The hearts can then be hung on our school bulletin board or given directly to that special person. Watch our Eagle Hearts grow in the front hall! Proceeds will go to the Bethlehem Festival Fund.
New PTO Fundraisers
Eagle’s PTO is pleased to bring you two great fundraisers
for the Spring of 2012. Order forms and payment should be sent in an envelope
marked with the fundraisers name. Please send separate envelopes/payments for
each fundraiser, checks can be made payable to Eagle PTO.
Krause’s Candy
Krause’s orders forms and money are due by Feb. 16. Candy pick up times will be
announced at a later time, but is expected to be during the week of March 19.

Luck of the Irish
Tickets and money are due on or before March 1, so that they can be included in

Jump Start program growing
Diane Schrempf, the Jump Start Coordinator at Bethlehem Central School District, currently has 39 volunteers for 47 students – a number she thinks will top 50 before long. READ MORE »

Sneaker Recycling Program
An intracity Troy group,
Hope 7, is collecting your used sneakers. Hope 7 provides daycare for
low-income families, activities for kids and maintains a food pantry for the
community. Their goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of sneakers by June to send to
third world countries that have none. Don't worry about the shape of your shoes
because any that can't be sent to wear, will be recycled into building materials
for playground floors! Donated sneakers can be brought to Eagle and placed in
the box in the gym.

Lip Sync DVD order form
Capture every moment of Eagle's Lip Sync Concert (Friday, Jan. 27) by ordering a DVD. The night will be professionally recorded by What's Happening Productions. Orders are due by Feb.17. Click here [PDF] for the order form.
Order Your Yearbook
Orders are now being taken for Eagle’s 2011-2012 yearbook. Yearbooks are in full color and cost $20. All orders must be placed be Feb. 3. Click here for the order form.
5th Grade Intramurals
We will be starting 5th grade intramurals on Monday, Feb. 6. Intramurals are on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30-9:10 a.m. Forms need to be returned no later than Friday, Jan. 27. Click here for the sign-up form.

Popcorn Fridays are Back!
The PTO plans to resume Popcorn Fridays this month beginning on Friday, Jan. 27 continuing through May on the last Friday of the month. Watch for order forms which will go home on the Monday of a Popcorn Friday week. Cost will be $1 per bag and popcorn will be delivered to students in their classroom for snack time.
Please note: Last year, due to the overwhelming response and a donation of supplies, popcorn was delivered to everyone. However, this year, Popcorn Fridays are a fundraiser and popcorn will only be distributed to children who place an order. Thank you.
Grades 3-8 testing calendar announced
The New York State Education Department has increased
testing time, the number of questions asked and has added a day to the English
Language Arts exam in its revised 2012 Grades 3-8 English Language Arts and
Mathematics Testing Program, announced in late December.

Fifth grade band
Students in band have been taking instrument lessons since the beginning of the school year. Now it is time for the students to come together and start their “band.” Read more about the band practice schedule here [PDF].
Bundle up for the cold
Now that the cold weather is here it is important for students to come to school prepared. We go outside for recess every day, except in extreme cold or rain.
Coats, hats and gloves are necessities and when the snow comes, and we require boots and snow pants to play in the snow. We do not have extra cold weather apparel so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather when leaving for school.

School banking has begun! Eagle students are learning the value of saving by banking with CAP COM (Capital Communications Federal Credit Union) every Tuesday morning.
