Eagle News

Eagle Celebrates Earth Day

Eagle began the day with an outside assembly on April 22in celebration of Earth Day. Among other things, we were celebrating our recent award of a $1,000.00 grant from the Bethlehem Garden Club. We will be using the funds to build an Eagle community kitchen garden. Thank you to the Bethlehem Garden Club!

The garden will be located near the courtyard behind the kindergarten wing of the school. The official "mission" of the garden is to create opportunities for our children to discover fresh, whole food and participate in sustainable food production. The garden will be utilized as an outdoor classroom and every student at Eagle will have the opportunity to work in the garden.

In addition to this, some of our other “green” efforts include: Mrs. Crawley’s kindergarten composting, turning milk jugs into watering cans, Mrs. Riegel’s class “upcycling” with Terracycle, so far we have donated $99.52 to charity through the collection of wrappers, juice boxes, etc (click here for more details), and recycling in the cafetorium.
