Principal's 'Blog'
January 28, 2011
To Eagle Families,
A big congratulations to the boys and girls of the fourth and fifth grade choir, the fourth and fifth grade orchestra and the fifth grade band. The performance Wednesday night was outstanding. I want to give a special thanks to Ted Biernacki, Patrick O’Connell and Monica Seebode for their talented instructional skills and their dedication to our young musicians. Ted conducted his last concert at Slingerlands last night and he will soon begin his retirement. He has been a strong part of the Bethlehem Central music program and will be greatly missed by all of us!
As we approach the month of February, the month of love, we will be sponsoring a “hearts drive” supporting the schools and children of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Hearts may be purchased for $1 during the school day (more information to follow next week). We continually try to make a difference at Eagle, and we are hoping that our annual “Eagle has Heart” drive will help the students understand the power of giving to others in need.
Parents of children in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be able to access their child’s special area report cards on BC@Home starting on Monday, January 31. The subjects assessed include art, library, music, and PE. The next round of academic report cards will be available for all elementary students at the end of March.
Finally, thank you to those who were able to join the district’s Community
Budget Forum discussion either in person or online this past Monday. If you
weren’t able to participate, you can watch the video, see the slide show
presentation, and read all about the event by visiting the district’s budget
forum webpage at
http://bcsd.k12.ny.us/News/201011/110125_forum1.cfm
Please note that another opportunity to continue the discussion will be held
on Monday, February 7, at 7:00pm in the Middle School Library or online.
Enjoy this last weekend in January!
