BCMS Helping Hands club to hold first-ever world rally on Friday, March 6

Release Date: March 5, 2009

The BCMS Helping Hands Club, an afterschool club dedicated to making the world a better place, will hold its first-ever Helping Hands World Rally on Friday, March 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

The purpose of the event is to combine entertainment, including a talent show featuring students and teachers, with educating people about global issues.

There will be a talent show in the BCMS auditorium along with tables and poster displays in the halls. Some community groups will be participating, such as Perfect Blend, who will have a table presenting information on "Fair Trade" issues. Peace t-shirts that were painted by school children in Tanzania will be on sale. There will be refreshments, and "endangered" stuffed animal door prizes.

Admission is $4.50 or $4.00 + a can of food (to be donated to the Bethlehem Food Pantry). Students in the Helping Hands Club work on projects that help their local community, people around the world, and the environment. Organizers hope the World Rally raises awareness among students and the community and empowers students to make a difference for the planet.
