A note from the superintendent on bus stops and schedules
September 7, 2010
Dear parents,
Over the past few days we have received many concerns from families
regarding changes to the transportation routing and bus stops for
the 2010-11 school year. The changes were based on community
suggestions in recent years to consolidate stops and ask students to
walk farther to them in an effort to save money and reduce travel
time. Yet, the bus stops announced on September 1 have caused enough
people affected by the change to voice concerns that we have taken
quite seriously. One thing should be clear to everyone in the BC
community: we will not compromise student safety. So, over the next
few weeks we will be reviewing and modifying student bus stops
wherever appropriate.
During these next few weeks, many routes and stops will be changed to ensure the safest possible pick-ups and most appropriate placements for students and neighborhoods. As changes are determined, families will be contacted. In the mean time, we ask that you assist us by being patient and continuing to use the stops posted on September 1 until given notice of a new location.
Should you wish to provide us with more feedback and suggestions
regarding this process please feel free to contact Al Karam,
Director of Transportation,
karaatr@bcsd.neric.org.
We thank you for your support and assistance in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael D. Tebbano
Superintendent
