On Thursday, November 12th it was the annual Slingerlands School Turkey Shoot. It is a fundraiser for the P.E. Department to purchase equipment for the students . Kids and adults had to pay one dollar for ten shots and we received a turkey toe token.
There was food and drinks available in the cafeteria to raise money for the 5th graders to go to Nature’s Classroom.
“Nature’s classroom is an extraordinary experience for all children and this fundraiser is a great opportunity to raise money for the trip,” stated Mr. Betor, a fifth grade teacher.
There was also a raffle for kids to win a football, a stuffed animal, a reaction ball, a koosh ball, jump rope and a playground ball. In order to win these prizes, students had to pay one dollar for three tickets.
In each grade level students won prizes for the most shots out of ten. The following are the winners for each grade level:
• K – Michael O’Shaunessy
• 1 – Jack Carrol & Luke Treadgold
• 2 – Christopher Taranto
• 3 – Matthew Helfant
• 4 – Eris Gabriels (Messier)
• 5 – Jonathan Scotto
• Adult – Margaret Reidy
Mr. Burger, a P.E. teacher stated, “The Turkey Shoot was a huge success. It was a very relaxing night and we raised $600.”
Thanks to Mrs. Young and Mr. Burger for putting on the Turkey Shoot each year. It’s a really awesome event that we look forward to each year!
