the Yearbook Staff would love to have them. Please save your photos on a CD
marked with your name, teacher and the event(s), and place it in the Yearbook

Most students at the middle school, except those exempted by the Committee on Special Education, begin to study a new language in sixth grade. Save the date: roller skating on March 6
Join us for roller skating at Guptill’s in Latham on Saturday, March 6 from 12:30-4:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit this year’s 4th grade class for Nature’s Classroom 2010-2011. More information to follow.
Date change for Family Reading Night
The Reading Night that was scheduled for February 25, has been changed to March 2. The program is designed for kindergarteners and first graders to join us for an evening of family entertainment and reading. We will have a presentation from Cinderella at 6:30 p.m. Family reading time will begin at 7:15 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. More information will be provided in the next few weeks.
Winter concert photos now online
On Thursday, January 28, Slingerlands had its annual winter concert. The children did an outstanding job in their performance. Lip Sync rehearsal
Just a reminder that Lip Sync rehearsal is on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the middle school and the performance is Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:00 p.m., also at the middle school.
Workshop: Homework struggles and strategies to help
Do your children struggle with homework assignments and do you struggle to assist them? Learn more about common homework struggles and discover strategies to assist with behavior issues, building literacy skills, and technology tools. This session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school's PPS conference room. To register for this program, please call 439-8886 ext. 25469 or e-mail Amy Grant.
Lip Sync 2010 TICKETS on sale now
Tickets will be sold in the Library Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 9:30 am and 3:20 - 4 pm. Tickets are $3 each. All proceeds go to the Slingerlands PTA. Lip sync performers and crew members are free!
Sheet and towel drive (sponsored by Brownie Troop 1629)
Deposit your gently-used sheets and towels in the collection bin in the school lobby between Feb. 1 and March 5. Donations will be distributed to Capital Region shelters and other local agencies that help those in need. Thanks for your help and generosity!
Bus Garage Lost & Found is full again
Hats, mittens, bathing suits, towels, jackets and lunch boxes are a few of the items left on school buses. If you are missing a piece of clothing, stop by the district's Transportation Facility at 82 Van Dyke Road; for smaller items, such as electronics or glasses, call 439-3830. The Lost & Found will emptied during February recess and donated to a needy school.
Do you have a child ready to start kindergarten next year?
Kindergarten registration for children who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2010, will be held in February this year. A packet of registration materials with detailed information about registering will arrive in the mail in early January. If you did not receive this information, please contact district Registrar Melissa Haas at 439-7481.
