Albany Children's Hospital

Would you like to give back to your community? Donate to the Albany Children’s Hospital. The children in Albany Children's Hospital are in long term care facilities and are asking for new art supplies, children’s games and toddler toys. Please drop off new toys in the boxes in the central foyer.  Due to sanitation policies, we cannot accept used toys.  The drive will run from February 6th through February 17th. This drive is sponsored by the Lab School Community Service Initiative. 

Art Club

Art Club will be meeting today, February 9th in room D127 to round bowl rims and make bowls for Empty Bowls. 

Badminton Club

Badminton Club will meet today, February 8th in Gym A. 

Bethlehem Central Teachers' Association Scholarships

Attention All Seniors who need money for College:  The Bethlehem Central Teachers’ Association offers 5 scholarships of $1,000 each to college-bound seniors. One is offered especially for a student interested in pursuing a career in education and another for a student interested in political/social activism or international relations. Stop by the Counseling Center to pick-up an application. The deadline for returning your applications is Friday, March 9, 2012

Bethlehem Central United Employees Association Scholarships

The Bethlehem Central United Employees Association is offering four scholarships of $500 each to graduating seniors planning on furthering their education after high school. Two of these, The Larry Prater Memorial Scholarships, are specifically offered to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education at a 2-year community college, business, technical or trade school. The other two, The Katherine “Katy” DePorte Scholarships, are open to graduating seniors attending any college. Applications, which are available in the Counseling Center, must be completed and returned directly to the Counseling Center no later than March 16, 2012.

Capital Region Career and Technical School Visit

Attention Sophomores: Please remember that on February 16th, we will be visiting the Capital Region Career & Technical School. Permission slips must be returned to the Counseling Center by Thursday, February 9th.

Carnations for Sale by Junior Class

Buy carnations for Valentine’s Day! Carnations will be sold outside the cafeteria during periods 4, 5, 6 and 7 for $2 each and you can attach a message. They will be sold by the junior class beginning February 6 through February 13

Environmental Club Animal Supply Drive

The first round of the Environmental Club’s Animal Supply Drive was a huge success! The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society thanks everyone who has participated so far. Please continue to show your support. Lists of acceptable materials can be found around the school on our posters. Items can be dropped off in the Counseling Center. Please donate now!

Glee Club

There will be a mandatory Glee Club meeting today, February 8th after school at 2:15 p.m. in Ms. Tobar’s room D140.

Julia O. Wells Memorial Scholarship

Attention Seniors Planning on Attending a 2 or 4 Year College for Nursing: The Julia O. Wells Memorial Scholarship is a $250 award for a student planning a career in professional nursing. If you are interested in being considered for this award, please leave your name with the Counseling Center secretary by Friday, March 30th.

Junior Class Council Meeting

There will be a Junior Class Student Council meeting this Thursday, February 9th at 2:15 p.m. in Mr. Carlino’s room D258. All members should attend.

Lacrosse

Any boy interested in playing lacrosse this spring should attend a preseason meeting today, February 8th at 2:15 p.m. in room D202.

All girls interested in trying out for JV and Varsity Girl’s Lacrosse this spring season are invited to come to an informational meeting in the high school cafeteria on Thursday, February 9th at 2:15 p.m.

Philosophy Club

Philosophy Club will meet this Thursday, February 9th in Mr. Straw's room D111.

SADD

S.A.D.D. needs your help in completing the Chain of Life. Your signatures are a symbolic representation of making safe decisions in 2012. The chain will hang around the front foyer for the month of February. Please don’t forget what these chains represent even after they are taken down.

Senior Scholarship Awards

Attention Senior Athletes: The Bethlehem Central Athletic Association is now accepting applications for the 2012 Senior Scholarship Awards. Applications are available from the Athletic Department located in room G162. Please return completed applications along with your faculty recommendations to the Athletic Office by Monday, April 2nd. BCAA award recipients will be announced at the 2012 BCHS Senior Awards ceremony on May 31st.

Senior Superlatives

If you were nominated for a Senior Superlative, come to get your picture taken this Thursday or Friday after school in room D242. Bring props and be creative!

Sneaker Recycling Program

Thirty-eight pairs of sneakers have been collected so far. Please continue helping us with the Sneaker Recycling Program! Collection boxes are in the locker rooms and the Gym B foyer. Thank you!

Snowball Dance

The Snow Ball Dance is this Saturday, February 11th at 8:00 p.m. Break out your dancing shoes and get ready to enjoy the dance and an all new student playlist! Admission is $10. Please be advised that if you are planning to attend, you cannot have more than 3 referrals or owe books or materials to the school between January 11th and February 10th. If you are planning to bring a guest to the Snowball Dance, please pick-up a Guest Authorization form in the main office. These forms must be returned no later than February 7th.

Speech and Debate Club

Speech and Debate Club will meet today, February 8, 2012 in Ms. Cullen’s room D120. All members should attend because the group’s yearbook picture will be taken.

Spring Sports Sign Ups

Don’t forget to sign-up for Spring Sports in the Health Office. Stop in during lunch, study hall or free period. Sports start March 5th!

The Rock

The Christian group The Rock will meet Wednesday, February 8th, period 9 in room D107 with Mrs. Corcoran.

VJCAT

Anyone interested in auditioning for VJCAT’s spring production of The Canterbury Tales, The Crucible, or one act comedies, should attend a brief informational meeting after school on Thursday, February 9th in room D101. See Mr. Yeara for further information.
