January is a busy and fast-moving month at
Bethlehem Central High School. Students and teachers are busy preparing
for midterm and final exams and other major midyear assessments. Our
music and athletic programs are in full swing and preparation has begun
for the Stage 700 musical, “Once On This Island.” Exam week begins
Tuesday, January 26. Please review the exam schedule with your son and
/or daughter and remember that you can view the entire exam schedule on
our High School web page.
On January 7, students received copies of the 2010-2011 Bethlehem
Central High School Course Curriculum Handbook. The Handbook contains a
description of every course offered at BCHS, as well as information
about graduation requirements. Distribution of the Handbook marks the
beginning of our course selection process. On Monday, February 1,
homeroom teachers will distribute the course selection worksheets to all
9th, 10th, and 11th graders. During the school day, each teacher will
discuss courses available in their discipline and provide students with
advice concerning course selection for next year. At the end of the day,
period 8 teachers will collect completed course selection sheets and
give them to the Counseling Department. (Any student who is absent can
meet with teachers on the following day.) Students will meet with their
counselors and confirm course selections during group counseling
sessions to be held on February 4th, 10th, and 11th. Students will bring
home the course selection sheet for their parent to sign and return it
to their homeroom teacher no later than Friday, February 12th. The
course selection data will be used to develop the high school master
schedule and individual student schedules for the 2010-2011 school year.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions about exam week, the
course selection process, or anything related to your children’s
education at BCHS.
Sincerely,
Charles J. Abba
